Synopsis
OUR FAVORITE TOYS, a one-hour special for the Discovery Channel, revisits the objects of our childhood obsession - toys. If you ever played with a Barbie Doll, sung the Slinky theme song, or built your dream house from LEGO toys, then this show is a must for you! Meet Ruth Handler, creator of the Barbie Doll, the world's most popular toy. We'll introduce you to Don Levine, creator of G.I. Joe, the world's first "Action Figure". He'll even show OUR FAVORITE TOYS the original model for G.I. Joe, a priceless piece of toy history!
OUR FAVORITE TOYS will travel to 1 Toy Street in Bryan, Ohio, where Etch-A-Sketch toys are manufactured. Journey through the back roads of Enfield, Connecticut, to meet Francie Berger, a LEGO brick Model Designer. She has made a career of playing with LEGO toys. 100 million Matchbox cars are sold annually, and many are still sold for under a dollar. We'll visit with the car designers who will show how they take the 1997 Chevrolet Corvette and turn it into a Matchbox car - 63% smaller than the real Corvette! Meet Robert Pasin, son of the man who invented the Radio Flyer Wagons in 1927. Did you know that the exact color of red used on the little red wagon is a closely guarded trade secret? "Radio Flyer Red" is custom mixed and prepared using a proprietary formula developed by the inventor of the wagon, Antonio Pasin.
This show introduces you to the people within the toy world who actually create the toys - - the real Santa's elves!
