Synopsis
Magicians are masters at fooling you every second. And they'll be the first to admit it. They perform tricks that we know are not possible but yet, for a minute, we believe. Penn and Teller, Ed Alonzo, and Christopher Hart display their artistry as they reveal what attracts them to magic. We'll see traditional magic performed as Mark Jenest demonstrates the "Cups and Disappearing Balls" act using a non-traditional shot glass and cherry. Brian Gillis and John Carney show us their sleight-of-hand skills as they dazzle their audience using cards and lemons.
Mentalism, using only the mind to perform tricks and illusions, is demonstrated by magician and mentalist Will Tremont as he drives a car while blindfolded. Max Maven gives us a first-hand look at his mental powers as he reads people's minds, and reveals how he can fool so many people so much of the time. Dana Daniels shows us his comedic take on mentalism with his act that involves his pet bird.
The Magicians are not the only ones who make tricks come to life. Pre-eminent designers and builders of illusions, Don Wayne and Dave Mendoza, take us through the ins and outs of the pre-performance side of magic. The magician's assistants let us in on their secrets, as they are an integral part of the show. Their main job is to distract the audience and make the magician look good. However, they perform many feats during the act to create a seamless performance and keep the illusions intact. Kim Kanter, Twyla Zone, and Jenny Lynn reveal the close calls they've survived during performances as magician's assistants.
