Synopsis

The wide-open spaces of Bonneville Salt Flats are perfectly suited for setting speed records. Speed demon Don Vesco is on the brink of breaking a world record. We will follow him on his quest, and also witness Britain's Andy Green set a new land speed record in his jet-powered car. Professional motorcycle racer Dean Mizdal takes us behind the starting line and shows us how to build a race-winning bike. We'll take to the air as the United States Air Force's precision flying team "The Thunderbirds" takes us through their dizzying displays of aerial acrobatics. We'll witness daring aviators pirouette their airplanes through the clouds and encounter the modern day equivalents of barnstormers and wing-walkers.

From high up in the air we follow daredevil Robert Gallup as he plunges, bound in chains, from an airplane hoping to extricate himself before he collides with the Earth. Below the surface of the icy waters of Vancouver Sound, escape artist Dean Gunnarson cheats death in an amazing display of skill and nerves.
Then we'll surface and watch two people, for the first time ever, go over Niagara Falls in a specially built
high-tech barrel. We'll see how and why they attempted such a hazardous exhibition.

We'll also investigate what motivates the athletes of the newest forms of extreme sports that include two-man "sky surfing" and a dazzling display of aerial bicycle artistry. We'll watch as they push themselves to the edge... and beyond.
