Synopsis
Come spend a carefree day at the park with us as we go behind the scenes of some of the world's scariest rides. We'll show you the top thrill rides, where they're located and who designed them. We'll meet Ed Morgan, one of the men behind Disneyland's most successful ride, The Matterhorn, and how his inventions have made possible today's innovative thrill rides such as looping coasters, inverted coasters, and standing coasters. You'll see the biggest and the best of today's rides, with top speeds of 80 miles per hour and lift hill drops of over 205 feet. We'll visit the Raptor in Cedar Point, Ohio and Batman at Magic Mountain in California as well as the Desperado in Nevada and the Steel Phantom in Pennsylvania. We'll visit the first American roller coaster as well as the latest craze, Stan Checkett's turbo lifts and drops.
We'll explore the physics and g-forces behind the rides and how they affect us mentally and physically.
We'll go behind the scenes and meet master park designer Ira West and find out how theme parks are designed, what elements are necessary, and how he designs every detail to ensure we enjoy our day at the park. We'll then explore the future of the amusement park as we investigate virtual reality at XSNY in Manhattan and the daring acrobatics of the New York Skyride, located in the Empire State Building, all accomplished with your feet still on the ground.
